Windows 7

So what is all the hoopla with Windows 7? Microsoft sure spent a lot of money on advertising the new OS Version stating how much better it was going to be. Obivously we are all curious as to how it’s going to perform. So my fiance & I purchased a brand new Gateway notebook last night from Best Buy. It was small cute and all, though we were very unsatisfied with the Operating System. I was excited to try out this New Windows 7, hoping for miracles I guess. After only playing around with it for oh, 10 mins if that even, we were both disappointed. First of all on the Notebooks, which are low in price, we paid $356 with tax from Best Buy, I guess you get what you paid for. Of course we went for the least expensive not knowing that a Notebook is mostly only for surfing the internet & not a whole lot more. The Notebooks are installed with only Windows 7 Starter Edition, which is a joke. Basically just your standard OS so the computer isnt just a DOS prompt. You can not even customize your desktop. Really, do we all want to be starring at the Windows symbol all day long? Not me I dont know about you. Also there’s the funny thing about only running 3 apps at once. We actually didnt have a problem with running more than 3. Though I have seen a lot of blogs that state you can only run 3 on Windows 7 Starter. So maybe they fixed or changed that. Not sure, all I know is we decided to return the Notebook they very next day. Very unsatisfied with an OS that will not allow us to do anything other than surf the web for the most part. If we would of paid for the upgrade edition, than we should of just paid the extra money and had a laptop that would do the functions needed for the modern day customer.  www.thebootcd.com
